Arabian horses I just love them along with almost every breed of horse there is. The features of the breed is the powerful neck that curves from finely chiseled head to a powerful chest. These features form a silhouette that shows off strength and beauty.
I have chosen this Arabian horse because of these remarkable features and colors knowing that I could create a beautiful paint.

This painting is a representation of the power of the breed. The arabian horse has beautiful colors that enhance her coat. Her hair flickers with the light showing off the muscles and strength of her neck. Acrylic glazes build the reflective colors in this portrait. As I explored different background colors I think a strong contrast was just what I needed. By bring the image forward accentuating some of her most beautiful features.
Her dapple gray coat filled the space with an opportunity to bring in under tones of the colors that surround her in the background. This is why I use such a strong color. The red contrast with the greenish gray in the different shade of white and grays.
When working in acrylic I paint opaque colors to each area knowing that every brush stroke of is there to support the portrait. As I add glazes to create the fur on this beautiful coat I can see the details bring out the strength in the form. The direction of the brush strokes in the bold color of the background brings some drama to the overall piece of art. This background also bring balance to the composition when dealing with a strong shape. I am pleased.
