Drawing in any medium is a choice. I immerse myself into my work and sometimes I draw for hours or even days to get what I want. I can select any Medium these include Acrylic, Oil Paint, Chalk, Charcoal, Conté, Crayon, Gouache, Graphite, Color Pencil, Ink, and Pastel.
Drawing in any mediums is to master them
Every medium has unique challenges because of the way I can master them. I used these mediums in art school. So I can explain that Drawing with a paint like Acrylics, Gouache or water color is applied with a brush is painting. By painting on a canvas, a board or paper will affect how I apply and master painting. Chalk, charcoal and pastels are soft so I use a softer touch and I usually work on a fine art paper. Graphite, Pen and Ink or Color Pencils are remarkable on a Plate Bristol Paper.
Drawing in the above mediums I can set my style in the way I use the 4 keys.
My brand is the medium I work in and my style. Style is how I apply the stroke of the pencils or the brush these set the tone of the art work. So I pick the medium because of the animal I draw. As I start my drawing in graphite I am full aware of the composition. I want the shapes, my eye level and textures to bring the piece of art to represent and support the focal point.
I draw animals mostly and I love to show the personality in the subjects that I draw. Animals recognized by their markings and character traits, so when I’m doing a commissioned piece it is important I pay attention to the detail. It is just as important to capture the personality of the animal. Each one is unique to and it’s my pleasure to do.
Here are some examples of drawings and paintings I have done. Depending on my mood the strokes can be loose or tight.
