Practice Drawing Every Day

Practice drawing every chance you get because it makes your brand. There are many people who draw but they are not me or you. Our skills are unique to our vision.

Practice drawing things you see

Practice art and everything in your line of sight is your subject matter. I see things differently from everyone else, so my work will never be the same as yours. As long as I can remember I was drawing. A doddle can become a great drawing and I can take the time to work on my pencil stroke.

Sometimes when I’m working on a rough drawing I can select the key after the center of interest. Trying out different strokes and different pencils will give me the mood I desire.

How does practice help

Believe it or not I have found that if I don’t draw for a while I start to lose the momentum to work. Also, we train our muscles to work with our mind. When I had health issues and had to stop for awhile, it took practice to get back to myself and my art.

Well, I drew every day for one month before I felt like things were working in sink. Animals are my subject of choice and I love when someone comes up to me and say” I would know your work anywhere!”

We all love the validation and appreciation of a job well done. The drawings I do sometimes become painting, which will bring on a whole new level of skill. Practice drawing with paint the difference is you have to be more patient because the drying time between the layers of paint. Not like drawing where you’re changing your pencil hardness. I had one professor who had us paint in one color (blue). What a great exercise in showing us that we could apply our paint strokes in levels of the same color building the art piece. Taught me depth and transparency of my brush strokes.

Practice drawing is developing all my art

Every piece of my art is a result of practice from start to finish my skills get better the more I do. I see all things in light and shadow, because these two things create shape and depth. Light can make my colors come alive, the darkness create perspective giving me a three-dimensional effect.

As I work on new pieces I can say “you can never have enough practice when it come to my brand. I hope you like it.
