Stressed Artist Trying to be Creative

Stressed artist trying to be creative really can be a challenge. I for one am one of those artist that struggles depending on the situation. We all have days are filled with things that are out of our control. It is how we react that it is important to the creative process. Every situation is different and I like some other artist struggle depending on how to cope.

Stressed artist and what we can do about it

There are different stresses that don’t stop my creative processes. Deadlines for one don’t seem to matter to me. I can focus on the tasks at hand a get done what I need to without a problem.

Sickness is the one thing we can’t do anything about. When we get sick the whole process stop. The recovery time is not much better, because we are physically drained. There are days in my recovery I may want to work in the studio but it is impossible.

Surgeries have been a part of my life and has stopped me from doing what I love. Using creative ways to do art is the perfect therapy all though it is frustrating because you just can do the things you are used to. The amount of time it takes to recover is what slows me down.

Time can also get away from us because of our other responsibilities. I wish I could just walk away from some of them and retreat to the studio.

Family is a whole different animal. It can be brutal, because there are so many emotions involved. They can stop me in my tracts just because depending on the day their needs are more important than what I’m doing at the time.

Privacy is another issue, I am one of those artist that need space away from everyone and everything when I am working. When I get easily distracted I can’t work because there are things going on around me. Someone looking over my shoulder is the worst they may want to ask questions or make comments that interrupt me breaking my train of thought.

Dealing with Stress

Uncontrollable factors will always be around and we all deal differently to them. Stressed artist and how dealing will bring some of us blast music to keep our focus while other do meditation or isolate themselves from the world. The main thin g is to get your mind in a place where your creativity flows without having to force it, because not good ever came out of that.

Talking to other artist like myself we all use different coping skills finding what works the best for you is the key. Take a nap, walk, play music, doddle or close yourself off to get back in the grove so you create beautiful art is the key.

Here is one of my drawings done while I was recovering from surgery.
